DUI when I didn't have drivers?

I'm new here and i'm not sure if I'm posting in the right section but I have a question about what you guys think I should do. I got a DUI about 6 months ago and I lost my drivers for 1 year. Now just the other day I had to go to the Police Office to get a court ticket because apparently my license where suspended at the time of the DUI??? How does something like that happen? I got a one month suspension approx 1 year 6 months ago and now I'm wondering if maybe they never entered it when I got them back. Does anybody know what they would most likely charge me with if I plead guilty? Reason I ask is because I have to drive 3-1/2 hours each time I go to court plus take a day off work so I'd much rather take a ticket than do that couple times. Thanks for any info I can get!
