Parental Abandonment

Does anyone know of any resources on Parental Abandonment?

My ex has not seen our daughter in 3.5 years. She will be 5 in Nov.

I have applied for a legal name change to have her last name changed to mine and just days after serving him he started the ball rolling on the supervised visitation he was awarded by the courts 1.5 years ago. He has never accessed his supervised visits before this.

I really think that his only intention in setting up the visits is to stall the name change, but, I am working with him on reuniting with our daughter in a way that will protect her from being hurt should he decide to stop coming to the visits.

I could use any advice I can get. We make too much for Legal Aid but with all our bills we cannot afford a high priced lawyer.
