I am in need of legal advice in the laws of conservatorship. I am the conservatee and I feel my conservators to be emotionally abusive. I recently had letters from my social worker and therapist recommending a change sent to my court appointed attorney. My court appointed attorney is not being at all helpful. My sisters filed a petition for guardianship. We went to court mid April. The judge did not find me to be incompetent so they did not get guardianship. But the judge did appoint them to be my conservators. They take care of all my finacial business. I NEED to know what if anything there is that I can do. Every month is a hassle, I never know when I will get monthly alloted gas card, personal needs gift card or cigarettes. I told my sister when she was here to give me my weekly allowance that I was almost out of gas and only had a few cigarettes left. She responded with maybe tomorrow. I ended up using my measly allowance to buy a pack of cigs and to put a few dollars of gas in my car. They don't think that I need to see the check book with my money in it or any bank statements. And these are just a few of the minor things. I am on SSDI and am now just starting to work part-time again. Is there something I can do on my own like file court papers or something? Any help or information I can get would be greatly appreciated. I would just like to add that I don't want to handle the money, it would be switched directly over to a paid Rep-Payee that can also help me in other areas of my life.

Hi, I need a lawyer, A pro bono one because I can not afford a lawyer. My grandchild is going to get addopted to a family that is not her family. I am this little girls biolocally grandmother and she has been a part of my life ever siench she was born. She is 5 years old now. The family that has her does not want her but they got to take her because my grandchild sister is her grandmother. Plus the lady that has her has a family member on the board of the cps, So they wont even let me talk to my grandchild on the phone. And i only get to see her once a month for 1 hour. I have been trying to get custody of my grandchild for about a year now and im about to my limits because the cps treats me shitty.I am 46 years old and I got to collegg to become a Early Childhood teacher. I dont do drugs and i dont drink. And I love my grandchild very much. The cps says they place the children with family members but that is not true. Because if it was than I would have my grandchild with me. My grandchild says she wants to live with me forever. Please can someone help me get my grandchild before its to late.

My daughter will be twenty one in two months... I received child support for her for only four years of her life (14-18,that's when child support finally caught up with him. When she turned eighteen, her support order ended. Since that point it's been a struggle for her to pay for school. Her dad is as dead beat in helping now as he was 14 years prior to being made to pay. I was told that the arrears for backpay would kick in after her order ended at 18.... but when I attempted to collect, I was told that they held no record of a previous older= he got out of his responsibilities to her... Is there any way that my daugter (on her own) can sue her sperm donor for back support to help with school?

Hello,
I am a single mom in the state of Michigan and I am trying to get some help in enforcing my ex-husband to spend more time with his three small children. He currently has an order to see them for three hours every other Saturday supervised by his sister at their home...This means he is forced to spend 72 hours per year with his three children...This is totaly unsuitable and unfair to me and the children....He has told me that he does not have to get his own place and that if his sister who he resides with does not want the children their for more visits then so be it....but I feel that is wrong and I need a life too...I need a pro-bono lawyer to help me with this situation...He has a substance abuse problem and a sexual addiction which he was charged with something related to that problem and placed on probation...that is the reason he was given supervised visits...but it has been two years ago and I feel it is now time for the absent parent to step up to the plate and get his life together and help raise the three kids he wanted...I want some court orders so I can have this visitation time enforced and him going through some counseling and parenting classes...I am grateful for any and all help I can get...Thank you

I'm a single mother of two children. I have tried for over 10 year to get child support for my daughter, who is now fourteen years old, her father would only give $100.00 dollars or less a month and some times nothing for months. I applied child support, and they were unable to process a claim, because her father was getting Social Security Disability, due to his drug abuse problem, her father latter die of Aide in 2002. I then applied for Social Security Child's Insurance Benefits for my daughter, and was told, her father did not have enough work history on file, after the worker explained is last day of employment on file, I had given her other names of employers he had worked for, and was told I would have to retrieve his work information on my own, but no employers will release information to me, we were not married, so my claim was denied for my Daughter. For over 25 years I was told my daughter, father was on Social Security Disability due to his drug abuse problem he cause him self, but yet is taken care of by Social Security Disability. he was in and out of jail but able come out of jail and get right back on Social Security Disability with no problem, and my daughter has been denied three times in the pass 10 years, her father dated women with his HIV sickness when he was clean and in his right mind from drugs, but he never told the person he was dating he shot drugs for hobble and was HIV Positive. My daughter claim was DENIED,a child with a bright future, look like some new laws need to be set in place, for children left behind ( NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND) That's not true, my daughter was left. HELP if you can. Thanks Alicia and Daughter.

My name is Andrew. I am going through a divorce, but that is not the reason I am asking for help. My wife and her family has a record of being physically amd emotionally abusive. She is going to court for assault/domestic violence in a childs presence for hitting me in Utah. Her mother came and her and my wife took my son to VA, she quit her job and just left. Meanwhile my wife's sister was living with us. They left her here with me because I would not kick her out (she tried to kill herself 7 days before that and was addmitted fot it). The sister in law had a court date for assault against my wife (she was trying to take up for me and things got out of hand). I tried to do the probation thing, but they turned us away because I am not a legal gaurdian. Then a few days later they took Tonya out of school and placed her into detention. My wife started a rumour that the 14 yr old sister and I were having an affair. I was investigated and nothig was found ofcourse. CPS declared my wife's statement untrue due to thier changing statement, and they just left her here. It seemed she was trying to set me up and screw her sister out of a good life. CPS recommends my wife recieve further phycological help. The judge an others did not feel comfortable with the sister returing hom with me due to me being a 22 yr old divorcee and her being 14. Is that age discrimination (what is the difference between me and a 40 yr old)? I am inno way pursing her or thinking of that as an option. It all ended with the judge deteriming that her mother was unfit and through furter investigation and statements for the sister, that she has been physically, emotionally, or sexually abuse by her entire family (separately). Tonya refuses to go back to her family and treatens suicide if Utah orders it. Never the less she has been placed in Division of Child and Family Services awaiting placement as a foster child. I have petitioned for Guardianship, but her case worker is saying me getting her is highly unlikely due to my young age and not being a blood relative (all other blood relatives have been determined unsafe), but is not impossible...just very unlikely. My wife does not say "yes", just "I don't know" when asked about her allegation about the sister and I. She admitted to me over the phone, she would rather have her sister in a foster home, than live with me. I need help, any if possible. I have written an 11 page letter to the judge explaining everything and my fellow service members have all written character statement letters in my defence and support. CAN ANYONE HELP ME GET THIS CHILD OUT OF THE SYSTEM?!?! She deserves a good familiar home...I have worked hard to get her away from the past drugs, sex, and not going to school. She looks forward to being "HOME." I am sure she will fall back into it if she is taken away from her "home." Her Guardian ad litem has reduced my visitation to 1 hour per week, instead of 1 hour per day, and supervised. PLEASE HELP.
